  • The relevance of the research is justified by the fact that the youth which presents a considerable part of the human resources will to a great extent determine both social stability of the society and the state of the art of the economics in the upcoming decades. The unemployment rate among young people which keeps on remaining high over a long time prevents from having developed economics of innovation since it badly affects the ability of the society to accept and generate innovations.
    The article provides comparative analysis of unemployment rate among young people in the under 25-age group in Russia and EC member states. In the course of the study such methods as comparative analysis, classification, synthesis are applied. On the basis of the research it has been concluded that the situation of the young people in the under 25-age group in Russia is much better than the one in most European countries.
    The authors have defined reasons of youth unemployment in the Russian labour market and worked out recommendations with regard to creating a common system of monitoring labour market needs as well as the state of youth employment by means of a set of indexes throughout the whole country and in its single regions.
