  • The article describes spatial organization and specific features of the modern religious space of the Church of England. The objective of this study is to reveal economic, legal and administrative-territorial specifics of creating space of the state church of England as well as to highlight current tendencies of its transformation and to introduce data on economic activities of major religious organization called dioceses (bishoprics).
The relevance of this subject is based on the fact that Anglicanism at the moment is the leading confession in Great Britain in terms of the number of its adherents and that it is religion in fact that to a large extent forms the public world view in the society. Besides there has been an ongoing interfaith dialogue between Russian Orthodox Church and the Church of England which makes economic and legal data availability with regard to the latter quite relevant.
Given lack of data on the organizational structure of the Church of England in the national literature the authors have used interviewing the staff of the Church of England in addition to applying traditional methods of statistical information processing and analysis.
The authors conclude that judging by the number of primary clerical administrative entities of the state church in Great Britain a large part of the British citizens take part in the religious activities with the Church as a social institution being still the powerful organization in the country.
