  • The relevance of the research is determined by the need to increase the role of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in ensuring the national security. We describe the government’s measures to guaranteesecurity in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in the last five years. We believe that the specification of measures to provide security in the Arctic region should be targeted at the territory development but not at strengthening global political or economic influence. We substantiate the need in the reorientation of strategic development efforts under current economic situation from ensuring security as defense measures to expanding partnership.
