The article consists of the introduction substantiating the need for the research into innovation activity, the main part that contains the description of the concept of innovation potential and the conclusion where measures to increase the efficiency of implementing the innovation potential are considered.
The research results in the conclusion that regional innovation potential should be considered not only as a complex of resources available for the innovation activity of the region but also opportunities to implement and use the resources in question as well as the ability of the region to maximize the efficiency of using the results of its innovation activity. A complex assessment is needed to analyze the innovation activity of the region and its innovation potential.
We suggest using a balanced scorecard to assess the innovation potential of the region, determine its volume, reveal factors having positive and negative influence on innovation activity of the region and make an action plan to increase the efficiency of using the innovation potential.
